De Beauvoir Town

De Beauvoir Town is a mixture of council flats, trendy canal side bars and small gardens. It's one of East London's hip neighbourhoods with pop-up events and hipsters. in the northern areas there are nice quiet neighbourhoods of Victorian houses. It's not the most active neighbourhood and you sometimes have to look for back allies to find all the cool places, but when you find them, it's worth it.

Drinking:
  • The Scolt Head is a really nice local pub with weird decorations and good beers! They also have a beer garden in front.
  • The Proud Archivist is a gallery, bar, bookshop and a restaurant. They have delicious Meantime beers on tap, some books, magazines and board games for sale, bistro-type cuisine and an art gallery! There's a fantastic outside area with long tables for those warm summer nights.
 Parks:
  • De Beauvoir Square is a nice little garden in the summertime. Beautiful flower arrangements and pop-up food stalls from time to time.
Cafés:
  • Bread & Butter is a nice, quite large café with excellent coffee, delicious cakes and great food! There are also some soft cushions in the corner to sit on. The clientele is quite hipstery with their macbooks.
 Eating:
  • Arepa and Co is a fantastic small Venezuelan restaurant and bar with delicious arepas. Arepas are fried corn bread pockets with all sorts of fillings. Try the one with fried plantains, black beans and cheese. They also have good beers and rum in case you feel like drinking!
