Mile End is mostly a poor neighbourhood, but there are some modern new areas close to the Regent's Canal and Victoria Park. Rows of similar-looking houses, council flats and off-licenses. Stepney is in the same article, since it's difficult to draw borders for these two areas. Some parts of Mile End are still fairly rough, but it used to be worse as this brilliant song by Pulp say it:
