Forest Hill

Forest Hill has got some of the best views over London and lovely gardens. There are lots of families in this area and this seems like a place where many people want to raise their kids in London. The area east of Forest Hill train station is not quite as nice as the other side of the tracks.

Museums & Art:
  • Horniman Museum is focussed on anthropology, culture and natural history. They have some tribal history exhibitions and a large collection of stuffed animals. There's also a nice cafĂ© with outdoors seating area and a glasshouse.
Parks:
  • Horniman Gardens is one of the greatest parks in London. They have a large green area to play games, cactus park, organised geometric pergola gardens, city farm (with alpacas etc.) and all kinds of strange musical instruments that you can hit with mallets. There's also a great view over London from the hill.

Shopping:
  • There's a fantastic little beer shop right next to the Forest Hill overground station, called GB Express. They have a vast range of local microbrewery beers as well as some international ones.

Areas around Forest Hill: Dulwich, Sydenham, Perry Vale, Nunhead
