Lee River Valley & Waltham Abbey

Waltham Abbey is not strictly in London. It's just barely in Essex. This little village has an old medieval church and a cute village main street. Right next to it, this time actually in London, is the Lee River Valley, which is one of the greatest nature areas in greater London.
Sights:
  • Waltham Abbey is one of the oldest surviving churches in Greater London. Henry VIII destroyed the attached monastery, but the church is still there and there are some nice gardens right next to it to enjoy.
Eating:
  • Le Spice is a nice Indian restaurant. The food is nothing spectacular, but the atmosphere is cozy and the staff is really friendly.
Parks:
  • Lee River Valley is one of the finest nature areas in Greater London. It's a maze of small streams and rivers along with small lakes. This is a great place to cycle around, have a picnic or just stare at the lakes. There are some otters living in this area as well!
Areas around Waltham Abbey: Cheshunt, Epping, Enfield, Loughton
