Homerton

Homerton is a quiet and fairly deprived neighbourhood in East London between Hackney's cool areas and Stratford's shopping centres. For a long time, this was a place that didn't seduce crowds from anywhere else, but lately this place has joined its neighbours by hosting great pubs and restaurants. It may not be that cool yet, but it's an area with fantastic pubs where there's still room to hang out with your friends.Go now, before it's too late!
Drinking:
  • Chesham Arms is a fantastic neighbourhood pub with a large beer garden in the back, good music and excellent craft beers on tap. The backyard is an excellent place to hang out in sunny summer evenings. They also have BBQs from time to time.
  • This is the proof that cool has reached Homerton. Old public toilet is a home to a cocktail bar, Brooksby's Walk, that also serves Northern Italian fine shearing plates. There's also a roof garden in the place. it may not be high enough to have great views, but It's still a pleasant place to hang out.
  • The Adam & Eve was probably the first bit of cool in Homerton. This large Victorian pub is quite amazing with it's variety of excellent craft beers, large outside areas (also with a roof), L-shaped pool table and regular BBQ food in the backyard. This is a great place to spend sunny Sundays eating, drinking and having fun!
  • The Spread Eagle is a beautiful, and quite hipstery, bar with different and beautiful rooms and a beer garden at the back. Their beer selection is good, including local microbrewery brands. The great thing about this place is that it's all vegan.
Eating:
  • Venerdi is a really nice Italian restaurant with excellent menu of antipasti, pizza, and pasta. It may not be the most amazing place in London, but the prices are very affordable, the staff is nice and the food does its job!
  • Creperie du Monde is a fantastic French-style crepe place, where you can enjoy delicious savoury or sweet crepes. The place looks great with unfinished brick walls and cozy cafĂ© atmosphere. You can choose your crepe with white or brown flour.

Parks:

  • The huge nature reserve Hackney Marshes is just around the corner from Homerton. Vast forest walks, small rivers, cows in the fields and sports grounds to spend summer days at.
Entertainment:
  • Castle Cinema is a fantastic independent cinema. They show lots of art house stuff and documentaries. There's a great bar as well.
