Cockfosters

Cockfosters is of course a good place to have a laugh next to the tube sign with a funny name, but this area is way more than that. The centre of Cockfosters is not that special. Some cafés, shops and office buildings next to a busy street. What's worth visiting though, is the huge nature area around Trent Park.
Parks:
  • Trent park is a huge park with forest paths, rural fields, lakes, Japanese style garden, wildlife sanctuary and flowery meadows. It's a great place to just walk around and enjoy fresh air, but it's also good for picnics, games, sunbathing of meditating. This is one of the greatest outdoorsy places in London.

Activities:
  • Go Ape adventure park is a great way to spend a sunny day outdoors. After a small instruction you get to climb in the treetops (with protective wires) through an obstacle course with great views. The whole thing ends with a slide from the treetops supported by a wire. Fun stuff!
Sights:
  • This may be a sight only to those who are interested in architecture, but the Cockfosters tube station is built in a beautiful art deco style, as are by the way most of the northern Piccadilly line stations. Great use of concrete. It's, of course, also a great place to take a funny picture with yourself next to the Cockfosters sign.
Areas around Cockfosters: Enfield, Barnet, Potters Bar, Cuffley
