Herne Hill


Herne Hill is a more relaxed and beautiful area to the south from Brixton. there's a great village atmosphere there. There are some excellent cafés, bakeries, restaurants and pubs in the area. The large Brockwell Park dominates the area



Cafés: 
  •  Christopher's Bakery in Herne Hill is a great little café and bakery where you can get delicious coffee, cakes, just baked bread and interesting cheeses.

Parks: 
  • Brockwell Park is a large park with excellent jogging and picnic opportunities near Herne Hill station. It also has a lido to swim in. There are great views over London from the hill. There are also some small ponds, tennis courts, children's play area and a geometric flower garden in the park.
Drinking:
  • The Commercial is a large pub with cozy atmosphere. They have some excellent craft beers on tap and really good pub food as well. They also have a small beer garden in the back. 
  • Hidden behind shop fronts, there is the Canopy Beer Co tap room built in the railway lines, close to the Herne Hill station. There is seating outside and inside, you can taste the brewery's own products as well as some guest beers or you can also buy gift bags of beer home with you. 
  • Bullfinch Brewery is a very cozy small brewery tap room in the railway arches. There's an outside and inside area depending on the weather and you can buy tasting flights to taste all of their delicious beers.
  • The Prince Regent is a great old time pub. They have quite fancy food and great selection of cask ales.
  • Half-moon Tavern is a fantastic, quite large, Victorian pub with dark wood panelling and decorated glass frames. They have a decent beer selection and pretty good food as well. There's also a big beer garden at the back.
 Shopping:
  • Herne Hill Books is a small but cozy little book shop. They have a particularly good children's book section. 
Eating:
  • Lombok is a great little Thai restaurant near the Herne Hill station. Their food is quite authentic and the atmosphere is very nice as well.
