West Norwood & Tulse Hill

West Norwood is a suburban area in South London. The rows of houses look about the same as anywhere else and the cool hipsters have not found this place yet. There's one of the magnificent seven cemeteries here and a couple of nice looking cafes and pubs.Tulse Hill is a bit fancier area to the north, but it's difficult to draw borders for these areas, so I'm including them in the same post.
Parks:
  • West Norwood Cemetery is one of the magnificent seven, beautiful Victorian cemeteries. It's a good place to walk around gathering your thoughts. There are some beautiful tombs there.
  • North of Tulse Hill, there is the great Brockwell Park. Great views over London, Lido to swim in, geometric garden, children's playground and great picnic and jogging opportunites.
Drinking:
  • Knowles of Norwood is a nice local pub with some tasty ales on tap and some pub food. They also have some pub quizzes, music nights and live sports.
  • Railway Tavern right next to Tulse Hill Station is one of the nicest pubs in London. There's a huge back yard with Thai style cottage. There's also really great, yet a bit expensive, pub food and great beers on tap.
Cafés:
  • Beamish & McGlue is a small deli with organic food, local beers and environmentally friendly cleaning products for sale. The place looks nice and there are some seats outside as well.
Areas around West Norwood: Streatham, Gipsy Hill, Dulwich, Herne Hill
