Clubbing & Entertainment:
- Sir Richard Steele is a beautiful old pub near Chalk Farm Station. They host a range of events from stand-up comedy to quiz nights, and live jazz.
- Dublin Castle is a wonderful small rock venue! There's a pub, where you can get good ales without an entrance fee and in the back there's a small rock venue, where 3-4 bands play every night. It costs around 5-7 pounds to get in. After the bands have played, there's often old school indie music played by a DJ. Atmosphere is brilliant!
- Roundhouse is one of the legendary music venues for big rock concerts. They have big names such as The Replacements, Neutral Milk Hotel etc. The industrial interior looks beautiful.
- The Jazz Cafe is one of the most legendary music venues in Camden. They host gigs of jazz, blues, soul and old-school RnB. The place has a feel of a cool Manhattan basement jazz club.
- There are many great pubs in Camden. Here's a few. Camden Head plays great rock tunes and they have good beers on tap. They also host comedy nights. Not the best ones, but they're free.
- Spread Eagle is a Young's pub with great ales on tap and nice atmosphere. They invest in special occasions. The place looked terrific in Halloween. This is the place where Blur had their secret comeback gig. Back in the 90's this place was frequently visited by the britpop's brightest stars.
- Lock Tavern is a cozy little pub with comfy sofas and Victorian decorations on the walls. At least during the week it's not quite as busy as some of the surrounding pubs. There's some fast food available and a nice roof terrace and beer garden for those sunny days.
- The Hawley Arms is a large pub with two floors, a balcony and a backyard. It looks great with its fire places, candles and wood-panelled walls. In the weekends the music is really loud, but during the week it's a nice place to hang out with your mates.
- The Edinboro Castle is a large gastropub with good food, good beers and a large and atmospheric beer garden.
- Brewdog has one of their London pubs in Camden Town. This was the first Brewdog pub outside Scotland. As a pub environment, this may not be the most pleasant one, but the beer is fantastic. They also have some seasonal changing beers.
- Camden Town is almost a one big market place. The Stables Market is a unique looking market with street food, records, posters, shisha smokers, clothes and small cafés and bars. The place looks amazing with horse statues in the walls. On weekends it gets really crowded, so your best bet is to go there during the week if you can.
- Feel like preparing good food at home? Wholefoods market in Camden Town has a great selection of organic and vegetarian foods and healthy but tasty things for your kitchen.
- If you don't feel like eating cheap (and sometimes not so good) street food at the Camden Market you might want to know about Viet-Anh Café, a nice small place serving authentic Vietnamese food, such as pho and fried noodles.
- Asakusa is a nice and cozy Japanese restaurant. The food is not the best Japanese I've had, but still quite good and very reasonably priced. Sushi tends to be better than warm dishes!
- Leyas is a nice independent coffee shop with excellent range of coffees and cakes. The downstairs area has changing exhibitions from local artists.
