South Hackney

Surprisingly beautiful village-like neighbourhood in East London. There's nothing really special here, but the houses and churches look beautiful, there are nice parks around and pubs look friendly and cozy. An oasis of beauty in the midst of council flats. This place is a good reminder of London's past as a collection of villages.

Eating:
  •  I should definitely scout some more good eateries in South Hackney, but now I can just think of Lauriston. Nice pub with good pizza, relaxed atmosphere and open mic nights and other events from time to time.

Parks:
  • On the south side of South Hackney is the largest park in East London, Victoria Park. Lake, chinese pagoda, fancy bandstand, curly trees and much more. One of the best parks in London!
Drinking:
  • People's Park Tavern is one of my favourite pubs. It has that cool neighbourhood feel, they brew their own tasty ales and the clientele is cool, yes, Hackney cool! They usually have great music as well. They also host some swing dance lessons upstairs.

Areas around South Hackney: Hackney Central, Bethnal Green, Mile End, Bow, Homerton
