Thamesmead

Thamesmead is a very peculiar place in South East London. Poor neighborhood consists of futuristic concrete houses, windmills, horses and old ruins. Might be a bit intimidating from time to time, but definitely worth a visit if you're a Kubrick fan or merely like bizarre places.

Sights:
  • Stanley Kubrick fans may be interested to know that the futuristic area around Southmere Lake, which has been built around 60's by the looks of it, hosted the filming of Clockwork Orange. You can still find the place beside the pool where Alex put his drugas back into their place. This area is surrounded by nature, horses and windmills.
  • Lesnes Abbey Ruins are the remains of an old abbey. Some stone walls still stand. Site of the ruins is surrounded by a beautiful park and you can see the futuristic concrete complex in the north, which gives weird perspective to this old site.
