Vauxhall & Kennington

Vauxhall is a relatively calm neighbourhood with some nice looking cafés and restaurants. In the shores of Thames, near Vauxhall, there is often a bit of beach above the water surface where you can take a walk. One of the busiest bus stations is in Vauxhall. Vauxhall also has a vibrant gay scene. I also include Kennington in this section, since it's difficult to tell these two areas apart.

Parks:
  • Beside a small park called Spring Gardens, there is Vauxhall City Farm, which is a home for farm animals including hairy pigs and three alpacas.
Eating:
  • Adulis is a nice Eritrean restaurant. I recommend getting one of Kirchats (assorted dishes on an Eritrean bread).
  • Caminetto is a fantastic little Italian restaurant and wine bar. They have delicious and authentic pasta dishes with a vast selection of wines available. It's a very cozy place with brick walls and wooden tables.
  • Bonnington Café is a cozy and slightly hippy co-operatively run vegetarian and vegan restaurant, where different chefs on rotation prepare your meals. Styles are different on different days and you can bring your own bottle of alcohol to go with your food. Booking is recommended as this place is really popular.

Drinking:
  • Tamesis Dock is a nice boat by The Thames where you can dance, drink and watch the river. You can even see the houses of Parliament from there. It's especially pleasant in the summer when you can sit on the deck.
Areas around Vauxhall: Lambeth, Stockwell, Westminster, Battersea, Camberwell.
