Hackney Wick

This former industrial area is one of the most interesting areas in London right now. As you walk these streets, you can find art ateljés, some nice cafés and street art is all around. The area is constantly changing with a variety of pop-ups. This is a good place to check out what an average London hipster looks like at the moment, since many of them hang out here regularly.

Sights:
  • Beside the canal you can find street art and graffiti. In just a few years, this place has become one of the best places to spot great outdoor art.
  • This is one of the best place to see the 2012 Olympic Stadium.
Cafés:
  • The Counter Café is a really nice Café with an artistic atmosphere. Coffee is really good and the food looks good too, although the kitchen closes really early on weekends. You can see the Olympic Stadium from here. In the same building with the café, there is an art gallery with changing exhibitions.
Eating and drinking:
  • The White Building is an absolutely fantastic venue for food, drinks, socialising and art. They serve great pizza and Crete brewery's great beers beside the River Lee, where atmosphere is boosted by the street art all around. The White Building also hosts some art exhibitions. This is as hipster as it gets.
  • The Hackney Pearl is a cozy pub/cafe/restaurant with good food and drinks. the clientele is hipster all the way and the atmosphere is fantastic. There are some fantastic beers here!
Shopping:
  • Vinyl Pimp is a small independent record store at the heart of Hackney Wick. Everything from rock to pop and from hip-hop to funk!
Eating:
  • Natura Cafe & Pizzeria is a fantastic little place serving authentic Italian food from risotto to pasta and pizza. They also serve wine and coffee in Italian style! The place looks amazing with its unfinished wood tables. Very atmospheric place and excellent food!
