Kentish Town

Kentish Town is a village-like neighbourhood north of busy and touristic Camden Town. Kentish Town has gotten its fair share of cool, but it's not as hipstery as some of the areas in East London. There are great restaurants and bars scattered around the area and this place is a great place for a beer-lover, since good ale houses and beer shops are plentiful.

Entertainment:
  • The Bull & Gate is a nice pub/music venue on Kentish Town Road. The pub itself is pretty average even though it has some nice Victorian decorations, but the music venue is a really nice and intimate space. Club Fandango offers live music from small indie bands.
  • The Forum is a fairly large music venue with a classic theatre look. They mainly have rock acts on stage, but there is some variety.
  • The Dome, right next to Tufnell Park tube station hosts medium sized gigs. There's a wide selection of genres, so keep your eyes on their events list.
Eating:
  • East London's coolest pizza place Pizza East has another restaurant here in Kentish Town. Great pizza in an industrial and cool atmosphere.
  • The Queen of Sheba is an excellent Ethiopian restaurant. The place is quite small, so it can get quite crowded especially in the weekends, but the food is great! The service wasn't very fast, so reserve a lot of time, it's worth it.

Drinking:
  • Ladies and Gentlemen bar is a cocktail bar in an old public toilet. it still looks like a toilet from the outside, but once you descend underground, you'll find a nice and cozy bar with books on the walls and cocktails made out of craft spirits. It gets really busy in the weekends, so if you want to secure a table, book one.
  • The Grafton is a great Victorian pub with large windows, a large heated terrace upstairs and excellent craft beers on tap. They even have some live music from time to time.
  • Tapping the Admiral is a relaxed neighbourhood pub with a pirate theme mixing with old movie posters. The clientele is not that cool, but they have amazing craft beers on tap with affordable prices.
  • Despite of its name, Camden Town Brewery is not in Camden Town, but in Kentish Town. This is one of the biggest new craft beer establishments in London. The tap room offers their classic beers on tap and they also serve some changing seasonal beers. This place is a must for beer-lovers.
 Shopping:
  • Clapton Craft is a brilliant craft beer shop with all the local breweries' bottles available. you can even buy some seasonal beers from taps to a oxygen free bottle. They have their main shop in Hackney.
Cafés:
  • Somewhere Over Knowhere... is a cool café with quite fancy, yet not that expensive food. They serve brunch and drinks as well if you're looking to fill your stomach with your coffee.
